AN EVALUATION OF THE PERCEPTION AMONG SMES ABOUT THE IMPLICATIONS OF THE NEW CDM REGULATIONS 2015: BENEFITS AND PITFALLS

CDM Regulation or Construction Design Management Regulation is a basic initiative by the United Kingdom government for managing the business activities of small, medium and large-scale construction organizations in a synchronized, safe and lawful manner. On the other hand, a larger proportion of the UK construction businesses belong to the small and medium scale business industry in UK. In the year of 2015 UK government has determined new policies to be enforced for the newer CDM Regulations 2015. Hence, it is very obvious that newer instructions and guidelines in the CDM 2015 will be impactful for the UK construction industry and will also affect the construction needs and approaches of the other SMEs across UK. Hence this research has been conducted for analysing the positive and negative impacts of the CDM 2015 on the SMEs across UK and also to find the approaches which could be recommended for the better enforcement of the regulation and also for gaining better facial advantages by SMEs from the new regulation. Surveys and interviews has been conducted with the SME managers and employees from various different organizations across UK for the analysis of their views and opinions about the positive and negative impact of CDM 2015 and effective recommendations have been made accordingly in the conclusion chapter as well.
