Abstract
The paper describes and analyses the evolution of the shoreline in front of Reggio Calabria's promenade through a time period of the last thirty years. To identify the shoreline through this time slice, satellite imagery was analyzed, together with cartography data, aerial photos, and data collected from a survey using an UAV. In addition, the wave climate, the interaction between longshore and river sediment transport, the presence of hydraulic structures, the variation of land cover and the average rainfall and temperature were analyzed in order to identify the possible causes of evolutionary phenomena. The shoreline changes appears to be mainly influenced by river transport and, secondly, by the wave climate.
