Abstract

This article provides review of Impact of Train ing and Development in Indian Healthcare. We review the literature focus ing on the benefits of training and development for indiv idual and team, organization and s ociety. India is the s econd mos t populous country in the world and the healthc are structure in the country is over burdened by increas ing population, becaus e off the death rate has declined but the birthrate continue to be high in mos t of the s tates . Expenditure on health by the government continues to be low. It is not viewe d as an inves tment but rather as dead los s . India faces the challenge of sus taining adequate level, s kill mix, quality and distribution of human res ources for health, across states and especially in poorer rura l areas . Rural areas are s erved by over a mill ion rura l practit ioners , many of whom are not formally trained or licens ed. Since the mos t dis advantaged are more likely to receive treatment fro m les s qualified providers , India ’s human res ources for health challenge pres ent a further hurdle for as s uring equity in healthcare.
