Abstract

Subject of research – the impact of education on the level of international competitiveness countries and regions. The purpose of work – to estimate the competitive potential of education of Ukraine and its regions in the international dimension and to identify the development of «bottlenecks» to eliminate them. Methodology and methods of research. The author proposes his own version of the assessing methods of the international competitiveness of the country and its regions based on the methodology of the Institute of Management Development (IMD - Lausanne, Switzerland) using indicators of the competitive potential of education. The results. The international competitiveness of Ukraine and its regions is estimated with educational indicators in the period up to Russian aggression. In article the «bottlenecks» of the development of education are detected and affect the international competitiveness of Ukraine and its regions and there is a need appropriate action by the public authorities. Application of results. These estimates can be used to eliminate «bottlenecks» and develop of education programs by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on national and regional levels. Conclusions. Infrastructure of knowledge (education) is an important factor of the international competitiveness of countries and regions. Ukraine's rank participates the top forty countries in the world according to education indicators of IMD-2012. Kyiv, Lviv and Chernivtsi region have the highest assessment of the competitive education but Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv region have the lowest rank. State policy which based on indicators of education should be conducted to improve the international competitiveness of Ukraine and its regions
