Abstract

Pleurotus spp. for food has been cultivated on various lignocellulose wastes. This paper studies the feasibility of fast grown wood species sawdust waste as edible , Pleurotusspp. Wood species studied medium for the cultivation of mushroom were m Acacia mangium Agathis borneensis Hevea brasiliensis . Twenty angium ( ), damar ( ) and rubberwood ( ) percent r , 1% 1% 3ice bran CaCO ; gypsum; 0.1%, 0.3% and 0.5%urea fertilizer as well as TSP (tri-superphosphate); and distilled water . The results showed that sawdust from those three wood , were added to each wood sawdust formula species could indicatively be utilized as medium for cultivating spp. Supplementation of urea into the media Pleurotus performed better result than that of TSP. ighest Biological Conversion Efficiency (BCE) value was obtained on The h rubberwood containing 0.3 % fertilizer. With respect to mushroom species in their ability to convert wood into the sawdust mushroom biomass, highest BCE value was recorded from , while the Pleurotus ostreatus then P. flabellatus, P. sajorcaju was recorded as the lowest Pleurotus . Inoculation of mushroom at rubber-wood sawdust decreased the C/N ratio, although the compost. used-medium was un-ripe
