Abstract
Wood treatabilily influenced by wood species, condition of tbe wood, treatment method applied, and the preservatives.•The researchwas carried out to know the effect of wood thickness, concentration of preseruatives sotution and the soaking periods to preservation achievement.Dried timber sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria Nielsen) and pine (Pious merkusii jungh et de Vries) were treated with boron compound by cold and bot bath process.Net dry salt retention of preseruatioe are expensedin kg/nl of Boric acid equioalent(BAE)and the penetration in percentge of the penetrated area. For cold soaking, the highest retention was showed by 168 bours soaking periods with 10% BAE treatmen:t(32,58kg/m3), whereas the lowest was showed by 24 hours soaking periods with 5% BAE treatment (8, 17 kg/m3). For hot soaking, the highest retention was showed by 15 mm wood thickness with 7 hours soaking periods treatment(11,54 kg/m3) and the lowest 111as showed by 45 mm wood thickness with 1 hour soakingperiod treatment (3,44 kg/m3).
