Abstract

Mproving the energy efficiency, ecological cleanness and lifetime of vehicles remains the crucial problem of modern science and technology. The rapidly developing global positioning, computer vision and radar systems allow for a new approach to designing vehicles and transport energy units. The ability to estimate the events which can occur in future along the vehicle travel line permits to optimize the vehicle and its energy unit control algorithm, ensure reducing the fuel consumption to a considerable extent, reduce the hazardous substances emission level and provide favorable, from the perspective of vehicle lifetime, operation conditions of vehicle systems and units. Furthermore, the information on the future events allows for a significant improvement of the fuel distance determination accuracy, which in turn results in the significant improvement of the vehicle performance. For the implementation of the above-mentioned abilities, the development of new algorithms for controlling energy units and vehicle traffic, such as predictive control systems [1,2], is required, which is the purpose of the present paper.
