Abstract
In alluvium soils, when bridges are constructed most common problem is scour around piers and abutments. Because of which the exposure of foundation takes place and results into failure of bridges. Various methods and technologies are used for reduction of depth of scour around bridge pier. One of them is use of triple plate on upstream side which was invented by Mr. Alireza Pourzaker Arabani and Mr. Human Hajikandi. Scour is studied in this project as well as the tests on new attachments like corrugated, slotted and aerofoil plates are tested in laboratory at SCOE, Pune. The different pier models are prepared and runs are performed under the clear water flow over uniform sediment to compare the results obtained with the case study. These attachments came with the solution for upstream as well as downstream scour reduction and acts as Bed armoring as well as flow altering counter measure.
