Abstract
Changes in the cardiovascular autonomic function have been very much seen in post myocardial infarction (MI) patients .The prognosis of these patients depends on how the autonomic system is responding to MI. Autonomic imbalance is one of the pathways to such increased morbidity and mortality. HRV is an important tool to study the cardiac autonomic function (Task force 1996).We studied autonomic function in haemo dynamically stable post MI patients with HRV .HRV at supine rest in post myocardial patients were compared with age and gender matched healthy individuals. ECG Lead II recorded in RMS polyrite D Hardware using Finland software. Both Time and frequency domain measures were taken for analysis. Student independent t test used for statistical analysis. HRV is used to assess the autonomic functions in post MI patients.Post MI patients are found to have decreased parasympathetic tone and increased sympathetic activity.
