Abstract
The article is devoted to the issues of teaching the Russian literature at the Iraqi audience. The interest in Russian culture and literature in Iraq has awakened since ancient times. Iraqi students studying Russian language already in their second, third and fourth years learn the works of great Russian writers. This studying is within such disciplines as "Introduction to the Literary Criticism", "Literature Reading", "History of the Russian literature", "Literary Translation", "Russian Drama", "Poetry," "Prose,". In addition, individual works of small genres are often used as teaching material in the classroom for "Reading and Understanding Texts", "Spoken retelling of the text", etc. Moreover, the process of using literature in the classroom for the study of the Russian language and literature still needs optimization and revision of curricula and sources.
