Abstract
Introduction. Ukraine's accession to the Bologna Process, the adoption of the Law of Ukraine «On Higher Education», the European integration of national higher education, the introduction of a competence-oriented approach to the construction of educational programs and learning outcomes require the enhancement of attention to the formation of future teachers, in particular, mathematics, the professional competency. Purpose. To justify the main methodological approaches and to reflect the practical experience of forming in a future mathematics teacher the professional competence and the role in this basic instrumental competencies during his training in the pedagogical university (based on example of studying geometry). Results. Basing on analysis of studies of domestic and foreign scientists it is analyzed the features of the competence approach in higher education, the essence of definitions «competence», «learning outcomes», «instrumental competence» is determined. Basic instrumental competencies are identified and it is proved that they have the following characteristic features: fundamentalism, multifunctionality, over-objectivity, integrity unity of the elements of their components. They are formed by a number of educational disciplines or content modules, at different stages and levels of a particular educational program, are acquired gradually, and are in a dialectical dynamic unity with the learning outcomes. The importance of development planning of general competencies in the developing process of all educational and training programs is indicated. The integration links between the structural components of the instrumental competencies in the process of studying geometry at the pedagogical universities are determined and substantiated. It is stated on a special significance of the formation among students the information management skills. This is the instrumental competence that will help future mathematics teachers to focus in extremely full with information modern world. Since they need for professional activity such skills and abilities as: independently find, analyze and choose the necessary information from different sources; critically evaluate it for solutions and solving problems and tasks; use the results of the processes of search and analysis for the adoption of reasonable decisions; produce and create new information; discuss it and exchange it by all kinds; use a variety of modern information technologies while working with it; create and accumulate own bank with information sources. Conclusion. Student acquisition of instrumental competence is a cyclic integrative process, which covers all stages and levels, content of education, form and technology learning. The formation of future mathematics teachers instrumental competencies will contribute to the formation of their professional competence. The role of the teacher at the same time is to systematically assist students in developing their personal qualities and creative abilities, the ability to solve problems independently and to find constructive, substantiated solutions to problem situations, the ability to independently receive new knowledge in a rapidly changing world full of information, facilitating not only adaptation to new living conditions, but mainly it will form the ability of rapid transformation in the new social conditions. Further research requires the allocation of stages and pedagogical conditions for the formation of future mathematics teachers the instrumental competence.
