The article deals with the legal peculiarities of contracts for research, development and technological works as an independent type of civil contract. Such contracts, as well as related agreements in the field of intel- lectual property (IP) are relatively new in the system of contractual obligations. The research of problems related to the practice of conclusion and execution of contracts, as well as their systematization are aimed, in general, at the need to improve the current legislation, including the rules on obligations in this area, and improvement of the current IP law
