Abstract

These Cryogenics is a study of science which deals with the behaviour of extreme low temperatures study. Cold converts is akind of a pressure vessel which is meant for storage of liquid oxygen and nitrogen or argon under certain required pressure conditions. The materials used for this equipment are discussed and analysed in this paper. The project report follows the same procedure for the designing of cold convertor as per the industry norms. The procedure conforms to ASME SECTION 8, DIVISION-1. In the present work, design analysis of single layered and multi layered cryogenic shell, with minimum mass under strength constraints for a cylinder subjected to axial loading for static analysis on the pressure vessel has been studied. The procedure for designing cold convertor to the required specifications has been studied and the analysis is carried out in Auto desk inventor, which is Finite Element Analysis software to create a perfect cryogenic vessel. In the present work, design analysis of multi layered cryogenic shell has been done for different materials. The design calculations and results for the analysis of different materials have been shown. Different materials are analysed. Taking weight into consideration and stress into account, glass epoxy for the outer structure with carbon fiber epoxy for the inner structure is comparably better than the other materials.
