Abstract
Waste tea leaves were used as a source of Activated Carbon (AC) which was chemical activated using Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH). SEM and XRD was carried out for the characterization of AC. L16 Taguchi method was implemented to determine the optimum parameters values required for removal of methylene blue (MB).The optimum conditions obtained from Taguchi for a 97.30% removal MB on AC from spent tea leaves is Adsorbent Dosage of 650mg/L, Initial dye conc. 2.71ppm,
time 30 min. and temperature at 30°C.
