Abstract
The article considers the cultural connotation of phraseological units in Russian, English and Karakalpak languages using the example of the lexeme "dog". In the course of the study, positive and negative features of this lexeme in English, Russian and Karakalpak cultures were revealed, which confirms the identity and individuality of figurative thinking among these peoples.
