Abstract
The university theater is a tool of cultural dissemination that allows the linkage between artistic creation and the society. However, reflections on its relevance in contemporary society are precarious, and its future as a cultural model within the University is not clear. The main question of this project is: Can university theater be established as a model of production with high levels of social profitability? This article analyzes the intervention carried out in the city of Toluca, State of Mexico, Mexico, in the Faculty of Humanities of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMex). In collaboration with the coordination of the Bachelor degree in Performing Arts, a festival of theatrical creation was conceived and produced to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the school, with the aim of audience development, fostering of drama and strengthening the school-society relationship. The production processes were studied to systematize the experience of those involved and to create a reliable source of information for the strengthening of future theatrical projects.
