Abstract
Party is a social need, but also individual, human. It contributes to social cohesion and generates pleasant sensations and well-being: it is joy, the rejoicing that accompanies the rituals, commemorations of historical, foundational and carnival events. Discourses, everyday life, longings, and disagreements are relief actions that generate perspectives of the festive meeting for those who participate in it. The contexts (economic, religious, political, social) of each party are inter-determined with their senses as cultural practices that are integrated, created and recreated. The Pacific Music Festival Petronio Álvarez (Cali, Valle del Cauca), the Celebrations of San Pacho (Quibdó, Chocó), the Celebration of the Palenques (Samaná, Caldas), places and events that we visited for the research, reveal their multiplicity and complexity. We try to unravel their similarities, convergences, and discrepancies, as we can observe and characterize the analysis of their purposes, participation, theme, and development process. This article presents experiences and patrimonialization processes of these celebrations, problematizing the tensions in which their meaning is questioned.
