Abstract
The aim of this paper is to describe some of the manifestations of Japanese popular culture, such as comic conventions, anime, and cosplay in Mexico. The background, emergence, and development of these cultural objects from the Far East, both in Japan and in our country, will be our topic in this study.
The fondness around anime, cosplay, and comic convention has become a large market, not only in Japan but also in Mexico. These foreign cultural objects are part of an appropriation process by some segments of the Mexican population, who incorporate them into their cultural baggage but not before adapt them into their context.
