Abstract
The use of social media platforms in political contexts around the world is an important way for socializing, spread information and a new counterweight to traditional media. In Mexico's case, the access to online social media has allowed young people to have an alternative space to the deficient system business media. In this research we compare the information generated and disseminated in newspapers against the spread on Twitter about the movement #TodosSomosPolitécnico that was produced at the end of 2014. Tweets are analyzed against to the five main newspapers of national circulation in order to get a comparative analysis. This research identifies relevant issues that differ from each type of media showing that ICT'S are generating free spaces for communication and a bigger participation and incidence in social and political movements.
