Abstract

The paper presents problems related to the modeling of complex technical systems in the industry but also odds to troubleshoot via Split System Approach concept. The aim is to show the benefits of applying the concept of SSA compared to other models. In paper are explained several kinds of complex systems and their classification according to the number and structure of the components. It is made division of the systems according to the components repairability. Below are listed the limits of reliability modeling of complex systems in the industry. It is indicated a possible solution in the form of semi-Markov chains for unrepairable system components. It is exposed the problems of modeling imperfect maintenance actions. Reliability modeling is a task that usually cannot be adequately done because most of the models is not applicable or does not respect the reality. SSA model makes it possible to achieve a compromise between these requirements. Additional help in the implementation of SSA models present computer technology because they allow mass calculations.Complex issues of reliability modeling of complex technical systems in industry are the most demanding in the field of implementation for the systems with many components. In contrast, in order to reach better data of system reliability it is necessary to decomposition of the system into many of components. Limitation for that task is a small number of failures per component. SSA concept has good properties with all the disadvantages like any other model.
