Abstract
Throughout the history, the rich have been target to the reactions of different groups, especially the poor, in the society, because they have earned their wealth from the wrong ways and avoided to support the disadvantaged groups. As a result, great social events, rebellions have taken place. The Prophet has laid the foundations of a new civilization in the Medina period of prophet hood. In doing so he has benefited from the opportunities of the wealthy people whom have a great deal of capital. The Prophet stated that your wealth is a test, and emphasized that the rich have responsibilities towards society. This approach has prevented the rich and the poor from being hostile to each other in society. Prophet Muhammad has said that richness can lead mankind to being stray. However he encourages people to work and gain, and to be useful to people. There are two other main aims in this effort other than to make a living for one’s self. First one is the need for capital to convey and spread of Islam. The second one is the will of the Prophet to support the poor, orphans, widows and others who are in a disadvantaged position in society. In this study, the relationship of the Prophet with Muslim riches and polytheist capital owners will be discussed in the light of historical information during Mecca and Medina eras.
