Abstract
The purpose of this study is to trace the dynamics of development of intercultural education within the framework of education policy in Europe. A brief description of the development of intercultural education during the previous four decades has been presented. The main part of the article is devoted to the analysis of documents of the international institutions concerning the development of intercultural education during the last decade. The conclusions emphasize that the rhetoric of the European educational policy of the last decade undoubtedly covers intercultural education, while it is too early to talk about intercultural education as a separate field.
