A Study on The Determination of Some Production Characteristics of Saanen Goats in Intensive Conditions

Abstract
Objective: This research was conducted to determine of Saanen goats, imported from Australia, fertility, growth and milk yield characteristics Material and Methods: Saanen goats (63 heads) and their kids (total 105 ) were used to be experimental materials. The goats were bred in August and kiddings were completed in January. Saanen kids were weaned at 60 ± 5 days. Results: Infertility, twinning and fertility rate for Saanen goats were 1.9, 58.5% and 1.61, respectively. Birtht and weanning weight and daily gain for Saanen kids were 3.67, 16.92 kg and 220.86 g., respectively. Average survivability rate for Saanen kids is 87.6%. The most important kid mortality reason rate is enterotoxemia by 30.8 %. The lactation milk yield, lactation length and average daily milk yield for Saanen goats were 721.7, 276 days and 2.66 liter, respectively. Conclusion: Finally, we can say that Saanen goats can be adapted well to the region both of the reproductive and development traits, according to the this study results.
