Abstract
The article is devoted to the comparison of approaches to the election of the head of state in different countries of the world. The influence of the form of government on the formation of a senior post is analyzed. An example of an elective monarchy is given as a deviation from the general rule of succession. Considered the differences in the election of the president depending on the kind of republic. In this article, the inexhaustible ways of electing the head of state, as a result of the existence of states that are not subject to any classification, are emphasized.
