Abstract
The author believes that the formation of new knowledge is a very complex and multifaceted, its de- velopment is influenced by scientific thinking, type of activity, the needs of the existing socio-economic struc- ture and internal laws of the development of scientific knowledge. The article also reviews the necessity to de- veloping new knowledge in contemporary information society and importance of cognition of an individual in this process. The author states that cognitive properties of an individual have significant influence on creation of new knowledge. Comprehension of novelties and their materialization is realized in interconnection with cogni- tive abilities. Increase in amount of information, transformations in communication and amplifying information flows all have influence on cognitive processes of young people. Therefore, epistemological research of cogni- tion of young people, its properties and opportunities is not only epistemological necessity but also a social one
