Abstract
Because putting patients' needs first is essential in the healthcare industries, many healthcare systems face health information technology (HIT) related challenges and a patient service dilemma. We will firstpresent the patient service dilemma and provide a high-leveloverview of technologies that have increased the productivity, efficiency in providing care, and clinical collaboration across their various healthcare campuses. Then, we will suggest changesto current HIT practice that will enableHealth Systems to be Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant, while meeting the needs of patients, their expectations of care, and the changing healthcare industry.
