The author analyzes V. Vynnychenko’s private correspondence on the basis of the epistolary literary criticism and reveals. The article touches upon the theoretical aspects of the research of the writer’s epistolary heritage. On the material of the private correspondence of V. Vynnychenko, Oleksandr Oles, Lesia Ukrainka, Y. Chykalenko and M. Gorky the author investigates their views of the role and tasks of literary criticism.
