Abstract
In the article performance is examined as a social phenomenon. Different conceptions of performance are explored from the perspective of social philosophy. Special focus is on the analysis of theories of performance presented in the works of S. Frith, E. Fischer-Lichte, E. Goffman, R. Schechner, and J. Alexander. Different social-philosophical approaches to the performance understanding are defined. Scientific results of the examination of performance as a sociocultural phenomenon of public life.
