Abstract
In the paper the author discusses the constructivist approach to teaching/learning foreign languages (in particular, English) for professional communication ? especially at tertiary schools. The origin and essential features of the constructivist approach to teaching/learning foreign languages are analyzed. The definition of the approach to teaching ESP (English for Specific Purposes) at tertiary schools is formulated.
