Abstract
Image processing is an important aspect of underwater ecology to visualize the different anatomical structures of underwater species. Sometimes it becomes very difficult or impossible to detect or visualize fishes from underwater images/video by using simple imaging. Extensive research is being carried out to develop automatic algorithms for detection of Fish from underwater images. Still there are challenges like time requirements, inaccuracy and complexity of images in detecting region of interest. Performance evaluation of studied state-of-the-art algorithms suggests that which algorithm gives best results for fish detection from underwater image/videos
