Abstract
With the predictions of World Health Organization (WHO) that number of deaths due to traffic accidents will be around 2 million with less than 15 years, researchers nowadays are paying more attention in how to help in preventing traffic accidents and lower the number of occurred fatalities. The purpose of this study is an attempt to prevent traffic accidents due to fatigue or sleepiness. Developed system uses a camera and image processing techniques embedded in a raspberry pi 3 module to detect driver’s eyes and decide weather the driver is sleepy or not. Based on this decision an alarm system will be activated. Alarm can be visual, audio and even a simple vibration in the steering wheel.
