Abstract
The state of metallurgical production of Ukraine in the first decades of the XXI century is considered. It is shown that while global steel production has a stable growth trend, domestic metallurgy is stagnating, is in deep crisis. The reasons for this became: general systemic crisis situations, lack of clear recommendations on the activation of investment work, underestimation of the role of pricing, innovation. Proposals for stabilizing the work of industrial enterprises on the basis of metallurgy are justified, these are: inventorying and attestation of fixed assets and workplaces; intensification of investment work; scientific approaches to the development of markets and pricing; advanced training and retraining of personnel, etc.
