Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from patients with community-acquired pneumonia

Abstract
A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out at the Microbiology Laboratory of the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology of Guantanamo from January to June 2016, with the objective of identifying the incidence of Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from sputum samples in patients with acquired pneumonia In the community. The study universe consisted of 88 patients. The laboratory procedure proposed by Expósito et al. We identified 72 productive sputum samples, of which 56 samples were positive for the bacteriological culture, of which 34 were isolated Klebsiella pneumoniae, which resulted in the study sample, showing marked resistance to amoxicillin and ceft. This microorganism is framed as a pathogen that emerges as responsible for the etiology of respiratory infections acquired in the community.
