Abstract

Multiple myeloma is a malignant disease characterized by multifocal proliferation of atypical plasma cells.that usually occurs between 50 and 80 years of age. His favorite seat is mainly vertebrae, skull, pelvis, ribs, humerus and femur. Myeloma ranks 17th among the leading causes of cancer deaths in the world by WHO. The case presented is that of a 40-year-old patient referred to a specialized consultation of stomatology and facial surgery at the National Hospital Center of Nouakchott (Mauritania) for the management of multiple maxillomandibular tumefactions, initially considered to be infectious origin. Samples made on the lesions showed that it was multiple myeloma. This observation illustrates the diagnostic difficulties of oral neoplasia, which was initially considered to be a benign gum lesion.
