Clinical and epidemiological characterization in admitted patients with peptic ulcer. General Teaching Hospital Guantánamo

Abstract
Descriptive and retrospective study was done of patients admitted at the General Teaching Hospital Guantanamo from January 2013-to December 2014, with the diagnosis of peptic ulcer in order to characterize them clinically and epidemiologically. The studied universe was 76 patients and were analyzed variables such as: sex, age group, causes, risk factors, complications. For the analysis of these variables the technique of frequency distribution analysis in qualitative scale was applied. The results were presented in tables percentage. Predominance of male patients, the highest percentage of patients was found in the age group 20-59, in the most common risk factors of alcohol was found. Helicobacter pylori infection was found as the root cause and gastrointestinal bleeding as a complication.
