Abstract
An investigation was conducted in health systems and services in order to determine the burden of disease by years of healthy life lost in patients with end stage renal failure Guantánamo during the period 2012-2014. The universe consisted of 66 patients with chronic renal failure who were admitted to the dialysis service at the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto "in the period studied for renal replacement therapy. The burden of disease was determined by calculating the years of disability-adjusted life (DALYs) and its confidence interval 95% as proposed by Murray and Lopez formula, 1994. A significant number of years lived with disability was found, indicator that can be used as a baseline for future evaluations of the cost utility of this treatment modality. Conclusions and recommendations were issued.
