Abstract

It the article dedicated to 145th anniversary of D.D. Pletnyev we provide a short biography of this great therapist, scientist and publicist, one of the founders of national cardiology and psychosomatic medicine in Russia. Professor D.D. Pletnev was the organizer and director of the Institute for Functional Diagnostics and Therapy. Scientific works are devoted to various problems of clinical medicine – cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, as well as general pathology, roentgenology, methodology, balneology, physiotherapy and medical history. In his main work «Diseases of the Heart», D.D. Pletnev summed up the first results of studying the problems of the physiology and pathology of the heart, paying great attention to experiments. J.D. Pletnev – the founder and responsible editor of the journal "Clinical Medicine", was the chairman of the Moscow Therapeutic Society. He gave lectures in Germany, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania. In 1933, Professor D.D. Pletnev was awarded the title of "Honored Worker of Science". Dmitry Dmitrievich Pletnev is one of the pioneers of Russian roentgenology and the development of a psychosomatic approach to internal diseases. Professor D.D. Pletnev proposed criteria for differential diagnosis of left and right ventricular infarctions (before ECG study); Pointed to the possibility of intravital diagnosis of heart aneurysm; Developed the concept of extracardial pathogenesis of angina pectoris attacks; Contributed to the improvement and wide application of the therapeutic method – chronic digitalization (saturation of the body with cardiac glycosides) with heart failure. Dmitry Dmitrievich Pletnev was a clinician with a broad outlook. He wrote the manuals "Clinical Diagnosis of Internal and Nervous Diseases", "Fundamentals of Clinical Diagnosis"; Monograph "Typhus Typhus", "Course of infectious diseases" in two volumes. Professor Pletnev studied the history of Russian medical science very carefully. He created monographs "Russian therapeutic schools", "Essay from the history of medical ideas", "The evolution of medical ideas over the past 60 years."
