Fire resistance ensuring of structural openings for cablings in fire stop barriers whith using of the thermoexpansion fire-resistant foam and fire-resistant polyurethane foam

Abstract

The possibility of providing fire resistance of openings for laying cable products in fire barriers when using thermally expanding fire foam has been investigated. A comparison was made of the effectiveness of the use of thermally expanding fire-fighting foam with a fire-resistant foam. The results of experimental studies that confirm the advantages of filling the openings in fire barriers with thermally expanding fire foam when laying cable products through them are given. It has been shown that cable penetration made of thermally expanding fire foam has an undeniable advantage in terms of loss of heat insulating ability (I) and loss of integrity (E) over cable penetrations made of fire-resistant mounting “pink” foam. It was concluded that, apparently, the flame retardant efficiency of fire-resistant mounting “pink” foam is most pronounced only for sealing the slotted holes, in which the transverse dimensions of the slot hole are much less than the thickness of the building envelope.
