Abstract
A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in the period October-December 2015, at the Pediatric Hospital "Pedro Agustín Pérez" in order to determine the incidence of Staphylococcus aureus in hospitalized patients, after making the appropriate microbiological studies as clinical diagnosis. The universe consisted of Staphylococcus aureus 172 isolates. The variables were used: age, type of sample and positive staphylococci resistant Staphylococcus aureus. predominance of the age group of 1-5 years was obtained, total diagnosed MRSA accounted for 45.3% of the cases analyzed, the skin lesions was the higher prevalence of positive isolations followed by surgical wounds. Epidemiologic systematic monitoring results from clinical samples and the use of contact precautions for colonized / infected patients contribute to decreasing the incidence of MRSA.
