Abstract
The benefits of the Indo-US nuclear cooperaon agreement specifically for India would not be fully realized unl Japan gives a clear go ahead by cooperang with India in the nuclear field. The process of the IndoJapan nuclear cooperaon was started aer 2008. India has to comply with a number of condions, however, before a deal could be struck with the nuclear-allergic Japan. The issue is sensive and entails many complicaons. So far, India has been reluctant somewhat to oblige Japan with all necessary pre-condions. If signed, the cooperaon could be having drasc implicaons for the nuclear disarmament and nonproliferaon efforts in South Asia and could severely discriminate Pakistan which also needs nuclear energy to upli its economy.
