Risk factors of malnutrition default in children 1 to 5 years

Abstract
A case study and control was performed in the Teaching Polyclinic "César Fornet" Banes, Holguin, 2010, to identify risk factors, its influential malnutrition default of children between 1-5 years old. The universe: total malnourished children 1-5 years by default (42 cases) and also was selected a control (83) group at two malnourished children for each case followed in the order of registration of medical classification, at the same age, sex and at risk of malnutrition. Individual medical records were revised and applied a previously validated. The odds ratio was determined and X2 products. Significant associations between poor nutritional and hygienic habits of mothers, poor economic status and family dysfunction and malnutrition default in children 1-5 years were found. Design and implementation of an educational intervention is recommended.
