Science theater: The Science Teaching in Four Acts

Abstract

Article the reports of a didactic tool developed in a public school in the municipality of Sinop / MT, with students from elementary school during the school year 2012. In this work a reflection on the potential of the Scientific Theatre in teaching concepts and scientific theories a social, political and cultural context. To do so, produce a play Shoulders of Giants based on fragments of classical texts of History and Philosophy of Science as the play "Life of Galileo" by Bertold Brecht and "Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems" Galileo Galilei. This experience, based on the principles of meaningful learning critical classroom, pointed some evidence satisfactory results on the possibilities of teaching and learning science topics through drama. Estudents involved in the project improved the quality of their relationships with knowledge, with teachers and with peers. Be realized subject (co) responsible for their learning, while actors/authors part, supporting the idea that the Scientific Theatre, and enhance meaningful learning in the classroom also allows the student to transition from one level of school learning to higher other.
