Abstract
This is study of free oscillations of a cable car, which is presented as two heavy points linked by a weightless rigid rod. One of these points (block) slides friction-free along an inextensible weightless cable whose ends are fixed on the same horizontal level. Another heave point of the bar (cable car cockpit) may rotate vertically as a pendulum. We obtained solution of the problem for case when the sag is negligibly small. Assessment of the movement range of the cable car is given for general case.
