Abstract
The relic Katlanovo Lake (Katlanovsko Ezero) or called Katlanovsko Blato (Dolen Šamak – which existed until the middle of the 20th century), is a remnant of the great Skopje Lake which originates from the geological period Neogen. During the long period of lake stagnation, the core of the lake was preserved in its bottom, the lowest part of the valley in the southeastern part of the area, today called Blatia. In the Neolithic, at the shore of the lake were built several settlements. With archeological prospecting on the terrain several Neolithic settlements are located on its northeast side and in the nearby surroundings. Today, in this area known are the Neolithic settlements “Tumba” near the village of Mralino, “Šamak” near the village Ržaničino and “Laka” near the village Katlanovo.
