Abstract
The article is devoted to the actual scientific and pedagogical problem – the consideration of the theoretical foundations of the reader's personal development. The levels of readership development, reading motivation, approaches and methods of studying motives and motivation are revealed. The reader's interest is presented as a conscious form of the existence of the need. Definitions of concepts: "reader's type", "reader's psychology", "reader's culture" are offered. The author singles out the components of reader development, reveals the formation of reader properties and the role of games and creativity in the reader's personality formation.
