GENDER CLINICAL COURSE OF CHRONIC HEMORRHOIDS III-IV DEGREE

Abstract

Aim.To assess gender clinical features of hemorrhoids of III-IV Goligher's degree. Materials. We conducted clinical examination and treatment of 140 patients with chronic hemorrhoids of III-IV Goligher's degree. Results. There were 58 men (41.4±4.20 %), and 82 women (58.6±4.20 %). Men more often (p<0.001) were ob-served in the duration of the disease from two to five, and women – from five to ten years. Men more often mentioned the use of fatty meat, spicy and peppery food, excessive alcohol (p<0.01). A sedentary lifestyle had no gender differences. Increased body mass index (30 and above) more often (p<0.05) were found in women. 91.5±3.09 % of women over the lifewere pregnant or gave birth. The most common complaint from patients was the loss of internal hemorrhoids. On the constant feeling of discomfort in the anus complained of 30.5±5.08 % of women and 10.3±4.0 % of men (p<0.01). In women more often (p<0.05) appeared external hemorrhoids. At 84.1±4.03 % of women and 87.9±4.3% of the men have been bleeding from the anus. The presence of blood on faeces noted 23.2±5.08 % of women and 21.6±5.8 % of men; the arterial blood at the end of defecation – 23.2±5.08 % and 29.4±6.4 %; blood clots and 10.0±3.63 % and 7.8±3.8 %; contamination of the underwear with blood is 7.2±3.12 % and 5.9±3.3 %. Conclusions. The incidence of chronic hemorrhoids III-IV Goligher'sdegree had no differences by gender and age of patients. However, men more often get ill (p<0.001) and there is a history of the disease from two to five, and women – from five to ten years. Men more often (p<0.01) indicate that the consumption of unhealthy food, and women of high body mass index, and pregnancy and childbirth in anamnesis (p<0.05). The most frequent complaints of patients with chronic hemorrhoids of III-IV Goligher'sdegree are the prolapse and rectal bleeding, which have different intensity. Women have significantly more common discomfort in the anus and combined hemorrhoids (p<0.05).
