Abstract

This article describes the meaning and role of dictionaries in the life of the Arab and Russian society, the basic principles and directions of the theory of lexicography. Dictionaries play an important role in the life of the people, as they reflect the achievements of linguistics in various fields of social knowledge. The dictionaries reflect the history and culture of the peoples of the world in a certain period of historical development.
