Abstract
In this paper, CuO@NiO nanocomposites synthesized using green method on the thermal conductivity of base fluids like water and ethylene glycol was studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field scanning electron microscopy, TG-DSC studies were used to characterize the as-synthesized nanocomposite. The XRD analysis confirms the formation of mixed monoclinic/cubic nature of CuO@NiO nanostructures. FE-SEM image shows the formation of flower like hierarchical structures. XPS analysis were carried out to determine the oxidation state of Cu(2p),Ni (2p) and O (1s) states in the composite structure. Thermal decomposition of the composites were studied by TG-DSC analysis. Bio-synthesized CuO@NiO composite capped with PVP shows enhancement of thermal conductivity of 3 to 45% and 4 to 38% in base fluids water and ethylene glycol, respectively due to the interaction with the nanoparticles.
