Abstract
Three phase induction motor (mainly squirrel cage type) has been widely used in industries because of its rugged construction, simple operation, low cost and high reliability and efficiency. So it is desirable to have a highly efficient motor. In this paper, a new design methodology using Genetic algorithm Tool has been developed to improve its efficiency, cost and starting torque. GA method uses GA Tool box for obtaining results using stochastic and roulette wheel technique. This new method has been compared with conventional method of design and improved results have been obtained. Thus GA methodology is a successful tool for 3 phase induction motor design.
