Abstract
ABSTRACT This paper highlights the role of humans in the fully automated vehicles and also the interaction between humans and intelligent vehicles. The interacting humans with the automated vehicles can be anywhere they can be 1) inside the vehicle i.e., they can be the passengers, 2) they can around the vehicles i.e., pedestrians 3) they can a person controlling the traffic,4) they can be inside the surrounding vehicles and not limited to the above. In the highly automated vehicle the vehicle needs to be in control for most of the time this means the vehicle needs to predict when to apply brakes, when to adjust lanes when a human or an object comes in-front of it. This means the vehicle needs to detect the humans, object and other vehicles. This is the foremost need of the automated vehicle. Taking decision based on the detections and predictions are the other key things to be done by the fully automated vehicle. These are the challenges faced by fully automated vehicles.
